Camera help

I currently have a Kodak M883 point and shoot camera and I can't seem to take indoor pictures that look decent. Outdoors I don't seem to have too many issues as the pictures look clear to me but indoors I can't take a picture that isn't somehow blurry, too bright, too dark, or out of focus and that's on the cameras "auto" mode.

Here is an outside shot

And here is an inside shot we tried taking for our holiday cards

I usually set the timer and set the camera on something solid so I won't move the camera when I press the button.

Anyone have some suggestions as to what settings to try or tips on getting some better quality pictures? I must have taken this picture 20 times and they all came out garbage.

Thanks!
