8300 series has a slower processor than the 8100 and 8800 series. The 8800 is more the competition for the iPhone.
One thing to know about BB, there is no way to view ShockWave Flash objects on the phone. No one has any idea if this will ever change but there's no hope in the foreseeable future.
Other than that, it does everything but if you want iPhone competition, you need the 8800 but it has no camera. If having a camera is essential, the 8300 and 8100 have them but the 8100 has a half keyboard and sure-type(don't confuse this with T9 or whatever the fuck it's called, this is still a QWERTY keyboard)
Basically this is how it goes:
Speed + GPS* + Full keyboard = 8800
Speed + Camera + SureType = 8100 (8130 now has GPS*)
Camera + Full Keyboard = 8300 (8330 is slated to have GPS*)
*Verizon disables GPS on all of their phones
