Think about the hitch for a minute, you are a pretty smart guy...the car is in test, wouldn't you think part of that test is to put the car under lots of stress and see how your accessories and HVAC react? Not to mention being able to test driveline components as well. What better way to test that than towing something and see what breaks.
I kinda agree with your comment about the rear in a sense. I think its the worst part of the car, but I still like it. It looks much better with a lip, like what was on Bumblebee in Transformers.
