Who needs the gas? When I got mine done, I just did novocaine and thats it. I didn't feel any pain when they were doing it, but there was lots of pressure from the pulling. It sounded pretty nasty though because they break it and then pull it out.

Anyway, I got mine done on a Wednesday I believe and I took off Thursday and Friday from work and that worked out pretty decent. I had TONS of pain with mine, but the medicine helped a ton. (I hate taking pain meds, but there were nights I woke up in so much pain I had to take the medicine)

As others have mentioned, just be careful what you eat afterwards and do what the doctors tell you to do for care because you don't want to end up with dry socket. Its kinda tough to say how bad its gonna be because everyone is different. When my wife got hers done, she said it didn't really hurt that much at all afterwards.
