That said I have taken both the basic and advanced NRA pistol courses there and enjoyed both, the advanced course had some cool scenarios like shooting while moving and shooting from cover, not too in depth but a nice change from shooting modified weaver all day.

I just joined last winter and had my orientation/qualification there in January. In the orientation they did cover “rapid fire” on the ranges. Their policy is that you can fire as fast as you want as long as you are hitting the target. If you aren’t hitting the target you need to slow down. They also said that you can shoot whatever you want as long as it’s legal to own in NY (unlike some other ranges that won’t let you shoot AR’s, etc…)

Their guest policy is 1 guest at a time and you have to RO for them. I don’t know if they’d say anything but by the books you are only supposed to bring one person and only twice per year.

They did warn us about some members that will try to enforce rules that don’t exist. One example is someone trying to tell a member that they couldn’t shoot an AR with a .22 conversion on the indoor range because the guy didn’t think people “needed to own guns like that.” We were told that if something like that happens to report the person to one of the club officers.

I don’t go there much but so far everyone I’ve meet has been cool and I’ve had no problems. I took a defensive pistol class there about a month ago. That was a good time. Dave Jenkins from Rochester personal defense taught it.

I looked at the other local places before I joined. Brooks didn’t have an indoor range and was pretty far away for me. RRC has stupid rules like you can’t load more than 5 rounds at a time and no rapid fire because “it’s a bullseye club”. How a club with “rifle” in the name is a bullseye club is beyond me.
