Of course they don't give a shit. If they did, it would be "hey, you can't drive for a while. End of story." Unfortunately, NYS structures it so that the people with lots of capital can live above the law. Who the hell ever heard of a fine for being fined? Yup. New york state Driver Assessment Fee. Get 6+ points on your license, pay 300+ bucks. They don't give a shit if you're actually high risk, have ever been in an accident or got those points from parking tickets.
Thousands to get the car running. Thousands spent to keep racing LEGAL off the road. Open it up ONCE on a deserted backroad at 1am on a weekday.
I can't fault the police. The officer extended me courtesy where he didn't have to and I'm not one to blame cops for doing their job. I guess I just wish that people who actually endanger others on the road got slammed for a change, instead of some guy who just got his car back on the road after 8 months apart and wanted to open it up just once in the middle of the night where he thought nobody was around.
