Everyone seems to have an opinion on this. I always thought the open atmosphere is bad (dumping metered air; valuable spool, etc..) but it seems like a lot of the stronger BOV are open or perhaps that's my perception.
I never had any issues with stalling or driveability between shifts while those with the Turbo XS RFL in my platform seem to do.
I'd stick with closed loop just to not deal with any bad issues that might arise from open loop. Most importantly, the BOV should hold boost and not give compressor surge.
