Depends on how it's connected. My stock Toyota valve is operated off pressure-differential. It's got a sliding plunger with two surfaces, the side facing the intake pipe pressure having more surface area. Basically, it'll only open under pressure CHANGE, in order to prevent surge. The more I boost, the tighter it's held shut. It's fundamentally the same as the HKS SSQV, without the polished bling.
I believe the Greddy Type S and even the newer RS can be set up the same way, as they have connections for dual-chamber operation. You could always recirculate what you've got, back into the intake. If not, find a nice kazoo and a roll of duct tape. If you're going to hear it open everytime you shift, you might as well make it entertaining.
