So I got done with my deliveries early today and decided to fill up the truck before I park it for the night. I'm no more than 1000 feet from my aprtment when I see an old man in a Pontiac grand am drift into my lane, jerk the wheel and back into his lane, then back into my lane. I moved over a bit but he was IN my lane. I hear a thump so I imedeatley whip around my 158" wheel base van as fast as it will whip around and floor it to catch the guy. I get a red light and I watch as he pulls into rite aid plaza on. Light turns green I pull into rite aid and watch as the guy is looking at his car. I pull up next to him get out and confront him about what just happened. He tells me he thought a stone got kicked up and hit his car. I tell him, No you just drifted into my lane and you're mirror scuffed the side of my van. He points to a scratch on the TOP of his mirror and tells me "that was already there." I tell him "Yes, but what about the scuff on the side of the mirror and the scuff mark on my van that just happens to be at the same hight?" He looks at me puzzled. I proceed to tell him I'm required to fill out an accident packet that I carry at all times. The first thing I have him sign is a form that say he will not sue me or FedEx and that he is responsible for what just happened. This is why I strongly support older people to be re-tested every 6-12 months.
