i used to run a custom stamped euro style plate on the front with my real NYS plate on the rear. euro plate blended in better with the bumper and didn't act like an air dam right in front of the intercooler. never got a ticket and actually had one cop say it was a sneaky way around it but still legal.
or if you have a bumper provision big enough for a plate. build a swinging front plate mount that moves up into your bumper via airflow when moving, but lower again once you stop...

Was your euro plate actually stamped the same as the nys plate? If so, that's pretty smart hehe!
