the most recent 2 model year vehicles (in this case 06-07) will pass inspection even if it has a check engine light on as it is only required to pass a safety check.. anything older than that receives a SAFETY/EMISSIONS inspection where the vehicle is plugged into the nys inspection machine provided by dmv that reads the readiness monitors in the pcm. if infact there is a SES light on the vehicle automatically fails. remedy the SES light, drive the vehicle for a while can range by mileage OR key cycles and then REinspect the car and see if the readiness monitors have passed.. thats the deal.. otherwise.. no sticker.
