I don't mind GM products. I own one.
I do mind the horrendous quality with which GM produces vehicles. I recently had a chance to revamp a friend's entire suspension on his 2000 Trans Am. STAMPED STEEL CONTROL ARMS? I could bend these with my hands. Is GM that broke of a company that they had to cost-cut even suspension components?
F-body?? Are they that cheap of a company that they had to continue to use a platform (along side ford) that dated from the late 70's?
Interior quality?? Do they not realize that their interior quality alone has coined the phrase "GM Interior"?? Buzzy, rattling, non ergonomic, cheap plastic looking, lack of headroom in a cockpit shaped for something other than your average human.
Lots of other things on that list. Lack of good corrosion control. Fit and Finish comes apart soon after the vehicle is new. Durability of parts is in question. The styling looks like a 5 year old's concept of a sportscar, but drawn with a crayon.
Don't get me wrong. I know they're capable as a company and their funding base is immense...
which is why i laugh when i see companies making a FRACTION of what GM grosses per year (like Subaru), producing quality vehicles with well thought out and engineered components.
GM to me is synonymous with backyard engineering, which is flipped considering they're one of the world's largest automakers.
