Refined rally car built to appeal to more than just hardcore enthusiasts. Toned down exterior and refined interior. Stayed true to 2.0L rally specs (thank god, didn't want to be the joke of the rallying world like USDM STi's at 2.5L ) but now has a 6 spd dsg automatic option along with the 6 speed manual. S-AWD, AYC, and a whole lot of electronic alphabet soup to make the car (from what they say) the best handling Evo ever. Up to 320hp/325tq but also up in weight. I dig what Mitsu. is doing trying to appeal to more customers and make more money by enhancing their flagship Lancer/Evolution line but it's just not up to my taste. I like the raw, purpose built Evo I-IX.

I'd like to see a displacement increase instead of cranking the boost.

They increased the boost 1.6lbs...not much of an increase at all. The boost tapers more than the IX does as well. They are predicting that you will be at approximately 16psi at redline. Plus they don't want to increase displacement as rally specs prohibiit the engine from being greater than 2.0L. Mitsu says no to high displacement

The increase isn't alot but the overall boost is. It's smart that they are lowering it. 91 octane in the west sucks. I am sure some people try to run 87 too.
Yea, I figured that about the rally car. Subbie's STi didn't seem to care.

Whats all this talk about rally cars?
Mitsubishi isn't even in the WRC last I heard.
That new Evo is the furthest thing from a rally car.. it's downright ugly IMO.

Yeah that's why I never considered the STi...they had to sellout and use a bigger engine to be competitive in the US. Couldn't get their 2L to pass emissions. Weak

I never understood why people actually cared about the rally shit. It's not like they are going into the circuits? I've been in both STi and EVO and the EVO's interior is absolute garbage and the STi ride is HIGH so I couldn't consider either. I dig the wings on both the cars tho and I am typically not a spoiler fan but that wing (similiar to 99 VR-4) looks good. The aftermarket for both platforms is amazing. Soo much more than I could ever imagine given what I have.

Speaking of rally cars doesn't always mean WRC. Think Dakar and others...WRC is the Nascar of the rally world...the most well known circuit of the sport but not all it has to offer. Mitsu has just moved away from the WRC for now to focus on other circuits/events. They are battling VW for Dakar supremecy the past couple of years The car you see will be at Dakar and many other events last year. Still built to drive even though I don't love it like I have previous gen. Evo's.
