True, but what performance cars dont get the shit beat out of them?
I beat my Mustang like it owes me money.
Here's another option. Im sure the price could come down a few hundred bucks.

Throw the G35 idea out before you get attached lol. Used 03's are still going for $23k+ usually.
I was VERY lucky when I found my 04. If you wanna try to find one, www.g35driver.com would be your best bet hands down.

he wants something fast.. a used 2000-2004 wrx can be had for around 15k...
if you want something you'll be happy with look into getting a forced induction car.. much better starting point then an N/A car.

debatable, it purely depends on what your goals are. You can start to get in decent vette territory at $18k which is a much better starting point than many FI cars in that price range. (Both straight line speed and for road courses)

yea the problem is this is a young kid who is either still at CBA or just finished.. and prolly wont beable to afford 2 cars so this is gunna have to be a year round car.. plus insurence plus up keep plus he's gunna want to mod
realisticly he's looking at an srt4/wrx/cobalt
if your looking for a bigger engine thats n/a you'll prolly find a nice z28 camaro/mustang gt/350z/
all of these would be solid starting points

If you put good snow tires on a RWD sports car they are at least driveable. I know people that do this in Michigan and they get more snow than we do. Insurance really isn't a ton more than the other cars that you are mentioning and secondly a vette will be cheaper to maintain and modify.
Not that I am saying a RWD sports car is the way he should go, but I am just saying your argument isn't a very good one.
