The point of this thread is to ask how to possibly get out of the ticket/fine. As for the exact percentage, . It's illegal, and that's all that really matters.

Arguing about the degree of tint is really moot. He got a ticket, he wants to know how to get out of it. That's it.

I'm sure I confused my self more than I've confused you. That's settled.

Let's just say I did get 65% tint, aka, "A waste of money". So you obviously condone a much darker, illegal tint. Great, that's fine, and settled too. Got anything constructive to say? Next time I want a Tinting for Dummies lecture I'll come find you. With all do respect, it's not what I asked for, though I do appreciate the clarification.

Sheesh.

I wasn't really trying to get into any name calling really, I was just trying to get the point across that he was swearing up and down that his tint is only 5% outside the law and was basically dismissing everyone else's advice. If he were only 5% outside the limit he could EASILY fight that and get it thrown out, but at 35% over the limit, it’s a much harder case.
Sorry for using the word "idiot," I was just trying to get across the point about his interpretation of the percentages. I obviously don't know if he is actually an idiot because I don't personally know him.

That being said, Mike did have a few good suggestions, but I think it will be hard to get it all thrown out.

Sorry bud, I was far from swearing up and down, and I'm sure the cop confused me more than I've confused anyone else, but I'm not arguing the fact that the tint was still there and was still over the legal limit. I wasn't "dismissing" people's advice, in fact Mike was just about the only one who offered it, you just went on a rampage about tint percentages and what they mean. Aside from that, the fact that you state " I obviously don't know if he is actually an idiot because I don't personally know him" is completley arrogant.

I think that you are misinterpreting what I was trying to say. I am not saying you are an idiot and I am not trying to be arrogant. Ask others on here that actually know me and they can tell you that I am not like that. It just seemed like you did not want to believe what others were saying to you could be the truth and then someone else (gf maybe?) came on saying the same thing that many board members were already disgreeing with. If you in fact do have 65% tint, that would be the first time I have ever heard of aftermarket 65% tint. I am by no means condoning more illegal tint, but I do have 35% on my Volvo and have had no issues at all with it. (A large part of that may be because of the type of car it is though)

Anyway, the back one you should have no trouble fighting if you have two sideview mirrors as nysulli said because if you think about it, just about every car made now has pretty dark tint for the rear windows. The front ticket is almost impossible to fight without removing the tint and proving it is removed or getting a doctors note saying that it is necessary for you.

Sorry if what I came out what taken the wrong way, I wasn't trying to say you are an idiot/stupid or whatever term, but I was trying to get my point across that I think you may actually have 35% tint and not 65%. (Which I could be wrong)

Hahaha, my bad, but you obviously got what I was trying to say. I'm gonna go edit it just to be on the safe side though.

They're totally just trying to screw you man. I used to get tint tickets like it was my job in the Eclipse, but they were always like $50-60. I'd say go to court and ask them how they came up with that ridiculous fine, but 3 hours away is far...
