A 318 is not just a truck motor, it was extremely common in all the base model cars and to be honest, though a 360 is a torque motor, <not introduced until 71 if I’m not mistaken> a 318 can turn lots more power with a cam and some head work. The 360’s where a low compression motor, and turned into a smogger motor real fast. A 318 and 360 are also a lot more plentiful; however, again, I agree that a 383 or 440 is a better build for that type of car.
With the Satellite’s (Yes, they are expensive, people are cloneing these), GTX, Chargers, Roadrunners becoming so ridiculously priced, these Fury’s and Darts and becoming a lot more expensive and harder to find as well.
I agree that because the car is a 4 door, it’s not worth the money with a 318. The small block to a big block conversion is expensive; you’ll find a buildable CORE of a 440 for about the same price as that whole car, hold out, but do not overlook the 2 door versions of these cars.

I figured a fury convertible that needs body work might cost about 5k to start. A rough 4 door is worth about 1200 bucks, a rough convertible is worth 5k.... you see why I picked 5k... same condition...
The 318 came as the base motor in lots of things including their half ton pick ups... so it is a truck motor, but yes like all things it can be built. The 318 is not a desirable chrysler motor, and I was under the impression the 360 has a lot more performance parts available, especially with its presence in the "performance" cars of the early 70s. Not to mention that it would be a cheap buildup you could do in the mean time while driving the car
Yes parts are retardedly expensive... I dont see how I was far off in my advice, other than not realizing the 360 was not built till 71.
Realistically the car isnt worth a lot, sounds like it needs some metal work, and would be a poor investment compared with some other options. Convenience does not dictate a good buy frequently... on the other hand my buddys dad turned down buying his neighbors two heavily raced cobras in the mid 70s because they didnt want to spend the 7k on 2 race cars. One was a 427 car, the other a 289 and they could easily be worth 750k to a cool mil now... I dont think a 4 door fury could ever have that chance...

I dont know if there really is a difference from a '90/'91 to a '92 (mine).
I just know that they changed the pistons in '93.

my first car was a '68 fury III with a 318, my grandparents bought it brand new. never got to drive it as i was 14 and the frame rusted out the more it sat. i would have loved to make it a cruiser and not just a toy to do huge burnouts in my yard with. sold it for $200 i think with 59K original miles

you can make a nice sleeper out of that grandma car though it will accept a big block with very little work. you would just need a k member from a dart if memory serves and you will be rocking the cubes!

The K-member from a dart will not work, a Dart is an A body and a Fury is a C body car.
V8 to V8 doesn't matter with the exception of the Hemi, all Hemi cars had Torque boxes and different K members in them.
The Slant 6 to V8 required a new K frame. But due to the aftermarket, they now make a /6 tp V8 motor mount.
