Its a bad idea to put an atmospheric bov on the saab, yes. You would need to buy a recirculating "diverter valve". the Saab requires that the air not be dumped into the atmosphere, it misses it when it goes bye bye and makes your ecu angry. hope this helps

basically every time the blowoff valve actuates its dumping metered air from the mass air flow sensor to atmosphere. the ecu doesnt realize this and is already sending enough fuel to the cylinders for the air thats escaped. this will result in an "instant rich" condition. unless u convert your engine management to MAP based tuning leave the stock bypass valve in place
Everyone seems to have an opinion on this. I always thought the open atmosphere is bad (dumping metered air; valuable spool, etc..) but it seems like a lot of the stronger BOV are open or perhaps that's my perception.
I never had any issues with stalling or driveability between shifts while those with the Turbo XS RFL in my platform seem to do.
I'd stick with closed loop just to not deal with any bad issues that might arise from open loop. Most importantly, the BOV should hold boost and not give compressor surge.
ask mike about my cars limp mode.. if i get it at WOT i lose 2 cylinders and i'm not allowed to go into boost and i also can't go above 3k rpms... it's pretty awsome..
