A car fellow Tib owner got imported from Japan..

Guy over on my Tiburon forums who goes by the alias MoogLe, nice guy at that, just got a car imported from Japan for $9k after customs..etc... Has 80,000 miles on it and it RHD (d0h). Says hes believes it should be putting somewhere around the 300bhp mark and the Tib is a slug compared to it

So anyhow, what did he get?

1996 R33 Skyline GTS-T

Car needs work, the body is rather banged up here and there; looks like it was used as a drift car for reasoning of stickers of racing teams..etc. So, he's gonna be fixing it up; body work..paint..etc

He lives over in Curacao though, so not like I will ever see it
But yep, SKYLINES like these go cheap over there, and plentiful around that could be shipped here for that price - after customs.
Quote:
$9k is after like 32% customs fees, $1700 shpping etc etc.

the original cost of the car in japan is like $3000, insanely cheap.

Yeah I'm not sure, he does live in the Caribbean Sea (Curacao) so it would probably be better then here; also-no emission laws. He hasen't opened it up yet as he is not used to RHD.. I'm not sure if I would be able to do it O.o haha

It IS a piece of cake down there. Curacao is similar to Antigua. You buy the vehicle. You fill out paperwork on what it is, you register the VIN #, you pay the customs duties, any inspection fees. I don't even think you have to have it certified by a mechanic, but it does need to be inspected. After that, you drive the freakin' thing.

I can't even begin to say how many skylines I saw when I was in Grand Cayman. The island isn't even 20 miles long and I saw three of them within two blocks of the port. Gentlemen, we should all move to an island.
