Blown water pump
That's a ball highlighted by the blue square that fell out of the bearing. It's really hard to describe just how much deflection the shaft had without that bearing.
 The impeller started grinding against the manifold and ultimately ripped itself free from the shaft.    I really wish this god damned UPS guy would get here.

Good old E36 cooling system. Wait til your rad neck breaks.
Replace the whole thing every 60k and save yourself a few headaches.

I really don't like the water neck either. What the fuck is that, delrin? I made a water neck for my friends fox-body but this could pose a challenge. Who makes a decent radiator, fluidyne?

Aluminum rad is nice but you dont need any extra cooling. Plus they are stupid expensive. You can get a Behr OEM rad for $130 or so, and you can get an entire new cooling system kit incl. rad for around $300. Just do that every 60-75k or so and you'll never have a problem.

Isn't there an aluminium water neck available for the bmw's?
 German engineering my ass. You couldn't overheat my Toyota system if you threw dynamite in it.Unfortuantely the car came equipped with an "Accident Magnet" somewhere in the dash.

Yeah, it's called an aluminum rad, and it's stupid expensive and unnecessary for a street car.
Funny, my German engineered car has been running for quite some time and your Toyota system hasnt made even an autox this year.   Come co-drive my car next time.
