We know it seems to many of you this day would never arrive, but on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 4:00 PM, EDT, Ed Peper, Chevrolet’s General Manager, and Ed Welburn, GM’s Director of Design, will unveil the details of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. This unveil will be the first step in answering the many questions (or should we say confirming the many rumors) surrounding the new Camaro.
Due to many factors, we are not able to extend an invitation to the entire Camaro community to join us in person for the dual, simultaneous unveilings that will take place in Warren, MI, and Los Angeles, CA.
We understand many of you may be disappointed not being able to see the car “in the flesh” that day (and therefore give you a reason to meet us at Indy in September); therefore, we are arranging a live webcast of the Warren unveiling on the GM Next website.
On Monday, July 21, just before 4:00 PM, EDT, go to GMnext | New Chevrolet Camaro | GM and click on the "Camaro webcast" link at the top of the page (the Camaro link goes live July 17) to tune in the unveiling. If you cannot watch the webcast live, no worries, an archive of the broadcast will be available on GMNext.com and Chevy.com/Camaro.
Speaking of Chevy.com/Camaro, the next evolution of the site will also debut late Monday afternoon. The next evolution will include images of the production model, exclusive production animation, and a downloadable PDF file containing specifications on the 2010 Camaro. After the webcast, come on over and see the changes for yourself.
If all your questions are not answered during the reveal, a web-chat on the 2010 Camaro will take place the next day (Tuesday, July 22) at GMNext.com. The chat will start at 9:30 AM, EDT, and will feature experts from Chevrolet Marketing, Design and Engineering.
Since Camaro’s production announcement in August 2006, many people throughout GM have been passionately developing a car worthy of its heritage that features beautiful styling, segment-leading performance, excellent fuel economy and advanced technology. Quite honestly, we can't wait to show you all the work on Monday.
Sincerely,

Team Camaro
(Cheryl Pilcher; John Fitzpatrick & Scott Settlemire)

I can't wait either. It will be nice to finally see what the actual production vehicle will look like and have confirmation that it is real versus tons of photoshops. It will also be nice to know the keys things like; trim levels, motors, weight and pricing.

It'll be nice if they redesigned the thing, since we've been seeing the same "new" camaro since concept photos in 04, then in movies, then in auto shows...
By the time it hits the market, the styling will be old news. I hope they have a fresh face in mind. They took too long to get it going.

Moai hit the nail on the head. They totally missed on the fashionably late enterance and have now just overstayed the welcome of their drastic remodel. It was "cool" 4 years ago.

I see what you guys are getting at, but I think what they were really trying to do is make sure they "got it right" this time. You should have read about the numerous focus groups to try and understand exactly what people want. They went through tons of exhaust notes to try and find the one perfect for the camaro, they tried to balance power versus weight among many other things.

Maybe this all blows up in their face given the times we are currently in with the whole gas crunch, but they have tried to do their homework on this one to try and get the details right. There were differences in the design from when it was first shown until now, if you compare each version side by side they are much more apparent, trust me. There has been tons of info on the camaro forum and many insiders on the design team have provided insight when they could.

The overall appearance will not change drastically, I can guarantee you that, but it has come a long way from the first cincept vehicle. There are already some "leaked" production photos if you wanted to search around for them. They are of a red and yellow RS package.

I am curious to see if they decided to offer a turbo 4 as an option because they were heavily considering that for a long time.

The "retro" look was hot when they designed the car, now domestic dealerships have Mustangs/Chargers/Ect...stacking up like firewood. The only car that has commanded any sort of demand has been the new Challenger SRT.

It's true...I have the AutoMotive News in front of me...you should see the incentives on these things!!! Mustang GT's can be had for a song and a dance practically

Yeah, they have refined it some since the concept's inception. The main thing is they're approaching the design like it's a high end car. Ferrari goes through that sort of homework to get the exhaust note just right, but a Ferrari is a six digit car. The Camaro is supposed to be the musclecar for middle america. That's how it made its fortune, by being the right balance of features, not the optimal calibration of every element. Besides, who cares what the exhaust sounds like? It's an LS series motor - they ALL sound great! That should be the easiest part of it. By now, I'd hope GM would know how to make a V8 sound decent without years of R&D.
I'm not saying it's going to be a bad car. In fact, I'm thinking it's going to be something very special, but the difference is going to be in our perception of how awesome it is. The Supra was great because it was a suprise. Three months notice was all we got and then it was in showrooms. Now it's damn near legendary because few were made and it was a true Halo car, as the Camaro will be. On the flipside, the R35 Skyline may be legendary before it hit dealer floors, but by the time it arrived, we'd seen and heard so much about it, the nervous excitement was mostly gone and the only thing most people found themselves doing was comparing it to the expectations they had of it. Not a great position when suprise and excitement are great selling tools to have on your side.

Best thing they could do: Completely reshape it. Give it a more genuine look, encase the headlights behind some hot looking covers, give it more of an organic feel instead of the futuristic look of shaved wet clay, and then just release it. Don't give us 2010 or how awesome it's going to be. Make it good enough, dump it on the market and save the time and money on development for the mid-cycle redesign. Offer GMPP exhaust and suspension packages for those geeks that want the best, just like the Saturn Sky has. Right now they're really overthinking it and a lot of people are going to get bored waiting for old news.

I thought this was a pretty cool intro type thing...

Check out the specs when you get a chance too. Bigger brakes than a Z06.

Haha, yea I already saw those. Someone posted them on ls1tech. Did you notice the WT (White Trash) badge in the front? It will be a long time before they look like that because people like that won't be able to afford one for a while.
