Pioneer AVIC-D3
Well I have been looking into getting a new double din in-dash screen for the mr-2. I found out about this release a couple weeks ago and it seems to be the best bang for the buck out there. A dvd/cd player that can play pretty much any format. Ipod audio and VIDEO ready, navigation and satilite ready. all for 1,000 bucks. Anybody have any info on the eq that this is going to have in it? also, if it comes witht he same motion sensor that the n3 has in it to detect when it can play dvd video, is taht overridable so i can play videos while the car is moving?
Right now i'm deciding between this and the new clarion unit that is ipod video ready.

I don't know much about the D3, but for a while I was considering getting the Alpine one for my truck. I was told the Alpines have a better screen.

alpines do have a better screen, but there is no way i can justify spending the same amount on an alpine with this one gives so much more. and the screen difference isn't too crazy.

Not a big fan of pioneer (and I own one). For the price, you can't beat it. Personally, I'd do without the nav and go alpine. oh, and yo bypass the DVD lock, you have to solder onto the board, voiding the warranty, obviously.

wow don't know if i want to go that far to get to drive with the dvd on.
maybe i'll just go with the new clarion, since these are the only two double din's i have found with ipod video ready...so whats everyone's opinion of clarion and are they easy to over ride?

i just talked to the guys over at audio obbessions and they can't wait for this to come out. they said it retails for $1,000 and then it's blue tooth ready, and to add in the i-pod it's only another $50 and for get xm/sirius is another $50 for the hardware to add it in. for anyone whos put them on a deck it's normally 100+ at least just for hardware..
this deck seems like it's gunna be huge and if i was gunna get something with a double din screen this would deff be it

lots of people wont buy it if you have to solder to over ride the dvd playback. and how many people really buy dvd decks and hook them up legaly?
it really has a great bang for buck, but i just wonder how much pioneer is making on it, because the less they make on it the more i have to pay for it which is a big

How many people do you know that EVER use the manufacturer warranty for audio equipment? Very few I'd say. Buy the Pio, bypass the motion sensor, watch dvd's while you do 100 on the highway, live life
P.S. I have a Premier series in my Evo and have been happy with it. Have had a lot of Premier line head units and never had a bad experience.
