I am the man.

And this is why...

Apple Mac Mini Installed in Trunk, Alpine 4 Channel Amp powering the Polk Momo speakers. 7" Touchscreen display. The power supply sleeps the computer 6 seconds after shutting the key off. Upon ignition, the computer wakes up and you are viewing the desktop in 5 seconds.

The owner wrote his own software for the computer for easy acess to media stored on it. He can also connect to the internet at 4mb/s via the bluetooth connection on his broadband cell phone, and can essentially download any song he wants to hear while crusing down the road. Some of you are going to ask "What, no radio?" Well, the answer is no, but you can always go to the radio stations website and stream it through the mac mini, lol

The customer supplied all of the stuff. He works for Apple, so the computer didnt cost him much. He also had to write a custom software program for it. It's useless without thta program because you'd crash within the first 1/4 mile of driving with that thing in your dash, hahaha.

I just installed it. He recently signed up on the forums... I gave him a card... I'm sure he'll chime in with more details.

blackparis is on a distinguished road

Is there a keyboard with that thing?

How much wattage does that powersupply draw while the mac is sleeping?

I've been wanting to do a car-puter for a long time now.... But I would much rather spend the $ on performance parts...

EDIT: Also what cell phone does he have? Do all bluetooth phones have this internet capabilty?

You can use a bluetooth keyboard, but all of the functions needed for daily use are operated via the touch screen.

It draws as much as leaving your cell phone plugged into the charger. After 14 days of the car sitting without being started, it automatically shuts the computer down and turns the power supply off.

It's a verizon broadband phone, I don't know what kind... it looks like a blackberry type of phone...
