I don't use the VM feature on vonage, but the point is that for people that do want to use it, Time Warner charges for it when it really doesn't cost them anything extra. Thats not the only "feature" that they charge for that is already included in vonage.
I have always hated Time Warner and I am almost ready to switch to Dish Network, especially now that I have a HDTV.
Just yesterday I had an appointment with Time Warner for them to come look at my cable signal because it is terrible on most of my stations (which aren't many because for now I just have basic). A while back I switched to basic so they had to come and install a filter to block the stations I wasn't paying for. I knew that was going to affect signal quality, but didn't raise a stink then because I didn't have a large TV at the time so it wasn't that noticeable. Now that I have the TV it is very noticeable. So when I called to complain, they actually told me that the filter would have no affect on signal quality and I just felt like ripping them a new one because unless they have invented a new lossless type of cable it was a load of BS. (Its like a 3 stage filter so there are a ton of additional lines and whatnot). So anyway I had an appointment for after 5pm yesterday and they were supposed to call 30 minutes before so I could leave work and be there, well I get a call from my wife at 4 saying the cable guy was there so I was pissed. Apparently he was passing by and saw her car there so he stopped. IDIOTS! I made the appointment at the time I requested for a reason! Anyway, so my wife is clueless as to what I really want to talk to these guys about so the guy looks at our TV and he noticed it was bad and went outside to the pole to look at the stuff out there. He eventually gets back to me wife and said it’s a problem he doesn't deal with and he has to tell the right people and they get to it when they get to it without any customer interaction! What the heck?!?!? So how am I supposed to know if they think they fixed it and it still looks bad or if they just haven't gotten to it yet? So I called to complain when I got home and he said there is nothing I can do except keep calling back to see what new comments are posted, meanwhile I have to pay for this crappy signal until they decide they want to attempt to fix it.
What a joke! Sorry for the rant, but I am so close to switching.
