Yea, I would be pretty ticked off too. Thats just Microsoft realize they will shortly be behind in the race so they are trying to compensate.
IMO what they should be working on is getting a system out there that actually spends more time in the home rather than in the mail getting repaired.

I could use the Hard Drive but i already have a HD connection and the HD dvd player. Ill just buy the hard drive separate

i personally have no need for HDMI nor 120GB hdd space. my tv is 720p so i am not buying into the 1080p hype now i don't have the problems that some have had with their 360's... i use mine daily, have since january...both for gaming and as a media center extender and it works flawlessly.
