Apple releases 8-Core Mac Pros, Abode CS3 is released!

Well, my long wait has FINALLY ended!!! Yesterday, Apple released their "octo-core" mac pro computers. Dual quad cores of power! Also, adobe has recently released their CS3 packages....Unfortunately for my wallet, this is going to be like a $10K purchase

Mac Pro 8-Way is like $4000 + $1600 for Quadro FX Video card + However much for RAM...

Adobe CS3 Premoum for mac is $1750

Apple Final Cut Studio $1200

Apple Shake $400

Damn...

is it just me or does ne1 else find it absolutely rediculous how we just come out with dual core not even a year ago.. and now we have 4x that power... quad cores have barely even been out.. and they already have computers with dual quad cores??? just amazing how technology is advancing these days....

then a even more interesting note.... A) what are you going to do with all this power that you cant already.. and B) what program supports and uses the new features... kinda like vista.. no programs really take full advantage of its powers yet... hell they barely have programs taking advantage of dual cores power... let alone this (btw there may be media programs like adobe or final cut pro.. but not stuff so i dont know what they use/take advantage of besides knowing they are really powerful programs that take alot to run)....

Welcome to the world of technology That is what happens. I've been in the IT industry for 11 years now, and I've seen so much change, and things go obsolete very quickly.

I'm not sure what you're commenting on here, because you've provided a comment without any information to back it up, besides some incorrect information. Vista doesn't have "powers." It's not like its captain planet (brew's car is, though). If you are speaking of DX10, then there are some games starting to come out.

Anyways, I thought it was obvious haha that I'd be using it for FCS, Shake, and the Adobe suite.

keep in mind, dual cores almost 2 years old now, and yes, there are programs that use that kind of processing power, the idea of dual processors has been around a long time, i remember helping mike build one 10 years ago

most of the programs are graphical or modeling programs, but theres a push to start in with games as well

yeah man. All my servers run linux. I could see myself switching to Linux/Mac completely except for Visio and some 3D modeling programs hehe
