External Hard Drives

Im gonna be buying a new External Hardrive cause my seagate is old, shot, and filled up.

Does anyone recomend any certin ones b4 i go out and buy one. im thinking about goin with a much bigger one so i dont have to worry about filling it for a long time. the one i have now is 150gb,

Theres no good stores near me to even look, so im either gonna order it offline or i gotta head out the crossgates within the next couple weeks so ill pick one up at best buy or somthing.

firewire > usb

other than that, you'll pay a premium for one that has both usb 2.0 and firewire. Look on newegg and you'll be able to find one I'm sure. I have two 320gb seagates, and one 250gb maxtor external, all firewire.

I'm probably going to need to get a 1TB external soon for moving my HD footage around.

I'm very happy with my LaCie hard drive. Check out a CompUSA store, they sometimes have great sale prices on external hard drives. I got mine (250 GB firewire) for only $100.

Yea I picked up a 200gig fantom external usb yada yada two years ago and its still cranking away never with an issue.

I agian picked up another 200 gig fantom drive, it was on sale, and its a little smaller then my orginal one, got that last winter.

So I recommend them

I have one of the western digital 500GB drives. It's the cheaper model (without the capacity meter thing on the front). Been running fine for a few months. I did have the partition table erased but I think that was a computer problem, nothing to do with the drive. I think they are $150 or so at circuit city this week. Newegg might be cheaper.

thanks for the replys guys, ill do some searching online tonight, and then order something good lol.

i have a seagate, its a few years old and where it gets pluged in is getting warn out, so u gotta keep messing with the wires to make it work...just to annoying, and its full so its time to be replaced

Yea I have my two setup with a external little usb box, pretty snazzy. I leave my newer fantom running pretty much 24/7 because i pretty much listen to music 24/7, and it has never had a heat probelm, or noise. The only thing I did was blackout the front little loading light, cause it lights up my room when I am sleeping.
