Not only that, but I think its going to be a LONG time before you see optical media obsolete, especially for storage/backup. I don't care how big of a thumb drive you can get, they are more expensive than DVD's and I wouldn't want to buy a new thumb drive everytime I had something that I want toe back up, but didn't want to overwrite something else I had backed up.
External harddrives are becoming so cheap too that backup to those are better than optical media as well...IMO

I just picked up a 1TB single drive FW800 drive for $280...

Yes, I agree with that, I have an external drive as well. But people obviously back stuff up for reasons, so if an internal drive can crash, so can an external. The chances of data getting screwed up on a DVD are slim to none.

yeah.... Even I'd rather have an Air than an Eee. I think those things are lame.

that's cool, opinions vary. I think they are pretty cool. It's not a desktop replacement or a full blown laptop replacement but it could replace my portable dvd player, allow me to use wifi if I'm out and about because I don't have a wifi device or laptop now. It's small enough to put into a small bag, or have my wife toss in her purse. Hell I bet I could fit it in my storage compartment on my R6! People have been upgrading the memory from 512mb to 2GB as well. Still way cheaper than any other laptop you can buy. The screen is the only thing I wish was a little larger but for an ultra mobile pc it works.
