I bet it did.... I imagine dual shock takes up a lot of power and power is a big issue since the ps3's controllers are wireless. With the previous two PSs they didn't have to worry about it since they were wired. I don't really care to research it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had to move interior components of the ps3 controller around to fit the the thing in that makes it "shock" and put in a bigger battery. I see your point though.
I think regular ps3 controllers are $50, so an extra $5 for dual shock isn't that big of a deal.
