Really, this should be done on a wideband O2. The Knock sensor is just a microphone and i remember some of the early DSM's would get knock readings off of loud lifter noise and other stuff. Its just a matter of the right frequency being picked up by the sensor and you might register knock when you don't have any. Widebands tell all.

WB02 tell all for AF. Too much timing and even a fat AF can still lead to knock.

VERY good point about the DSM. Older cars make noise. Period.

A lot of DSM guys don't even worry about knock sums in the 15 or less as they assume it's fake knock.

Also, ass dyno NEVER worked for me but maybe for others.
