electromotive tec3. engine mgmt. to go with the motor i still cant afford. but the deal on the tec and some toda itb's is too good to pass on right now. trying to locate a shop with experience tuning/installing it near here, as it is used and i would be doing a lot of rewiring to get it into my car.

come on mike, this computer and gas shit is what you're all about.

much upgraded. but for what i'm doing- no boost/nos/launch control/crazy timing changes/etc, the II would be sufficient. just happens they 1. dont make it anymore, and 2. i have such a sweet deal to buy a III.

can i get in contact with this kid to tlk about tuning/setup?

We have a bunch around. I would highly suggest ditching the TecII, far inferior design, and a bit sketchy in my eyes.

I tuned on the TecIII a bit on our dyno in our shop here, and I recently tuned a bit on some prelim runs with this new ecu we're trying.

Basically, an engine with stand alone will only be as good as the guy behind the computer tuning it. You NEED lots of dyno time to get it right, plus setups for all conditions when you are running the car.

The purpose of using a full stand alone system is for the extra features and extreme fine tuning thats not available on most oem ecu's. For example Most Bosch systems tune every 500rpm's, while tec/motec goes every 100rpm's. This allows for better driveability and peak power.

I recently had switched out the Motec in my m3 racecar for Boshc oem setup dyno tuned of course. All you need is a Bosch computer, or you can even make one yourself if you have the knowledge! I lost zero torque, however a bit of peak power... but for the $7500 the motec cost, the 15bhp peak loss is doable. It also lost a bit of driveability, but nothing too bad.

We have a tecII, and TecIII laying around, however I think they are spoken for. Wealso have a tecII on the 2002 car, however It will probably be sold with the car.

We should be tuning our new ecu on our worked cbr600f4i in the next 2 weeks upon completion of the car. I am hoping we can make 75hp.

If you'd be interesting in watching us do dyno runs, we usually start in the morning and will do a shitload of runs that day, sometimes several dozen in an hour

It'll be before the 30th, as thats our unvieling day in the Alumni house.

Its mostly a closed door affair for tuning in our shop, mostly for liability, but I'll let you know when we are doing it. We wont be tuning with the tec, we're done with them, we're using Performance Electronics now.

We're on the end of Burdett in the warehouse building next to Phi Strange at the corner of burdett/hoosick.

We currently have two dynos, one huge one thats not hooked up, with 5 gas analyzer, and its gigantic. And the one we have been using for a while is our formula dyno jet. That's what we'll be dynoing with. We usually will do a couple dozen runs per hour, making small changes between each run, doing several runs for averaging of consistency.

We=Formula SAE at RPI.

www.formularpi.com

Our shop is closed to visitors for a while because we're getting our 2004 car finished up, and its all almost time for competition.

We will hopefully be out testing, but most likely at a private lot somewhere in the area, secluded from the public. We have important testing to do, and it's a veyr tight schedule. We're getting close, but we're still pretty far away.

So a couple all nighters in a row, and a couple extra missed classes, and we'll have this thing running in no time!

We will hopefully make it out to Northlot before competition, but if not we'll be doing a lot of driving this summer in north lot, private local locations, and if we have time we'll be doing Fsae class for scca regionals. We're usually a bit faster then the Amod guys, so they gave fsae our own class.
