Spark Plugs...

I have finally bought some pod filters for my bike to lean it out a bit, in the process I have fouled out some plugs from being so rich, now I have a friend I work with who said I should try side gapping my plugs, now I understand the concept of doing this is to get a bigger spark to ignite fuel more efficiently, I am just curious if anyone has tried this and how it worked out for ya.

(The plugs are for my bike, just standard NGK CR9E.)
