I need some help pickin out a chip MTM vs APR
Ok, so i'm dead set on getting a chip for my 2003 A6, its got a 2.7T with the tiptronic. The price isnt the problem fore, they both come out about the same. There is a slight difference in numbers though when it comes down to torque. Heres the MTM chip http://www.hoppenmotorsport.com/A6_27.htm I want the one on top, the +60hp chip. Heres the APR http://www.streetwerke.com/xcart/pro...cat=181&page=1 The 2nd website has info about their dyno, the first one doesnt, so i'm unable to make a comparison between the two. its possible that the difference in numbers is due to the dyno. I know theres a bunch of guys that use APR and i also hear great things about MTM. I would like to read some personal opinions that you have. some pros and cons with your car if you have either. or just general suggestions will be very helpfull. please help me out. even a vote with no reply is help.

i dunno but my guess would be an audi forum would have the best answer. when it comes down to it, which ever one gives you the most power without a rediculous lose of fuel economy, or even better if it has multiple settings, one to bring it back to stock for daily driving....or one that keeps gas millage the same with the bump in power

The APR chip looks to be the one touting more testing and better design within the stock equipments' parameters.
If they're known for good customer service, that would seal the deal for me.

It should provide better fuel economy for at least off throttle driving. Making more power = more fuel being used so there is no getting around that. In basic daily driving, I'd hope they'd lean it out because most fuel maps from the factory are crazy rich.
Dyno #s aren't very reliable especially when it comes down to advertising products so don't go solely on that.

it prolly is really rich. when i start the car in the morning after a cold night, it smells like fuel, a LOT! after its warm, it doesnt smell like fuel as much. but i think that if i go with the apr chip, itll give me a couple more options for driving around and save some gas

The fuel map for a freshly started car at idle should be different than during cruise but you get the point.
I think the stock AFR map for my 3/S is somewhere in the LOW 10.X at WOT which is ridiculous. People don't realize that these things have a warranty so they do things to keep it safe.

all cars richen up the mixture on cold start. that's just how things go. [unless you have DISI - different ballgame there].
theoretically you should see no real change in cruising mileage, as you're only doing a chip. Gas mileage is based off horsepower required, which is based off of frictional losses and pumping resistance. Unless you're making it easier for the car to breathe, improving the drag coefficient or the rolling resistance, your mileage really won't change much. Your computer really won't change lambda while cruising. It's pretty much optimized from the factory.

Yes, I go anywhere from 10-11AFR to a consistant 14.5-15.5 at warm idle.
You sure? I get better MPG by leaning out my AFR during cruise. I lean out almost to a fuel trim CEL.

im thinking of also getting the bi-pipe upgrade kit, and possibly the RS4 twin intercooler and silicone hose kit with the hardpipes at the end of summer or during next fall. i also want to talk to morgan about some downpipes. i am buying diverter valves either way, im just not set on what ones to get.
