Gutted Cat... Car runs hotter?
I gutted my cat yesterday and now my car is running about 20* warmer than usual. Today I did a coolant flush and removed my thermostat and it still runs between 195-215 when driving. Is this normal? My turbo is much louder and you can hear it spool in the lower RPM range...
Is the car running warmer because the turbo is spooling earlier or is there something else wrong?
Water pump is definately moving coolant... ask brew... he took a shot to the face when i fired it up with no cap on the thermostat housing, lol
Ordering Koyo race radiator tomorrow, hopefully it helps out a little...

A gutted cat should have no affect on your temp. One might argue lower given the air should be moving out faster. I doubt anyone could quantify that tho.

"Moai" just wasn't enough

short of altering something with your fueling, I doubt it changed anything bad.
And you should hear your turbo spooling lower It's breathing a bit more freely now.

yea thats what i thought... it makes no sense because the cooling system is doing it's job and flows freely.... i just did a new thermostat 2 weeks ago, i figued it may have been causing an issue and i took it out, but it still runs warm...
any ideas?

195*-215* is just about normal for my car... Its no where near hot enough to be concerned about anything. The cat should have little to not effect on how warm your engine runs. After you flushed the system, abd put new coolant in, did you bleed all the air out?

I don't know much about a turbo system but, Since the trubo is spooling sooner due to less pressure in the exhaust, the turbo would be moving more air into the intake. I know you're FMIC is much larger than stock, but it makes sense to me that the increase in air intake doesn't alow the FMIC to cool fast enough before it makes it's way into the engine. If I a then pay no attention to my post.

all air is out.... i'm running those temps with no thermostat at low rpm crusing speeds!

as has been said before gutting your cat should have no impact on the engines core temp....215 is about average for a I6 or V6 not a 4 banger...you didnt happen to touch anything else while messing around.....in my mind it could just be a bad sensor...which is causing the car to act retarded...ive had a water senors stop my car from going over 60 without bogging down and choking out.
