Ok i have a 2001 jetta 1.8t and well the intercooler on it is small and it heats up fast, so to fix it i want to install a front mount, I have a question first, How should the installation be? people have told me i may have to pull the engine and i cant do that or afford to have that done.
ok i've never done a fmic install, but i've never heard of pulling an engine to do so. prob have to pull your front bumper though. being that its a pretty popular car, i'm sure they make a kit. that would eliminate the time and cost of having pipes custom made

yea i just kind of freaked out at the idea that i would have to pull the engine just to put on a front mount intercooler, with a little research and a few phone calls to some local shops it wont be to bad actually it should fit in somewhat easily
Anyone who knows the car well enough to perform this type of work would know the drive train does not have to come out. Front mount installations on any Vdub or Audi are rather simple and straightforward.

Been there done that. We carry a bunch of different setups for that car. An no your engine does not need to come off. The Greddy and Neuspeed Kits are both excellent and much more cost effective then the others. ATP and Forge are great kits as well.
* Note: If you like your enginge cover and choose to keep it make sure you get an FMIC that allows it some do, most don't. Also if you plan to get a Front Strut Bar then you have to use on that doesnt come up over the top of the motor. The Nuespeed, APR Tuned and Forge Intercoolers are the ones to go for that. Let me know if you need help getting one.

allright, thanks for the info. I'll probably stop at your shop today or 2moro even though that speeding ticked just robbed me of all my money i gotta price that out, i'm pretty obvious i wear a military uniform
Just get a little creative and order a prebend piping kit, along with front mount core. You will end up saving $$. You can get a nice aluminum piping kit with all the couplers and tbolt clamps for ~$130, then a good size core would be about ~$100.
From what ive been looking at and reading, we(VAG people) have to take off the front bumper and trim those plastic fins in there on the inside to fit the IC in, other than that theres just the piping. I really dont think you've gotta pull the whole motor out, thats a bit extreme for just a FMIC. You might need to maybe loosen the front of the fenders depending on how those pipes are routed through, but i think it just all goes upfront. you may need to remove the lower small grilles where the fog lights sit. Most of the cars i see have that out. Idk if its a look they go for, or if theyre just in the way.

haha he said VAG
