Seeing as I was involved with Rexer back when she actually ran, I can reply to this one.
IT'S BECAUSE HE RAN THE CAR AND GOT USE OUT OF IT BEFORE IT BECAME A LONG TERM PROJECT.
Rexer saw autocrosses, she saw the drag strip, she went to the road course. She was out and about and never ghetto hacked, nor built to the extent that Mike was forced to resort to ramen noodles for dinner. That was all while he was starting up Rspeed, doing local car club/autoshop duties and studying for his Masters all at the same time.
If anything, I'd take a lesson from that but I doubt you will. It seems you do an awful lot to rationalize your position instead of recognizing faults for what they are and fixing them. You bought a fucked up STi and it died. Was that your fault? No. You modded a fucked up STi and it died. Was that your fault? No. [and I'm being generous here.]
You took a blown up STi, aired out your problems to the world, dragged several local forum "buddies" into helping you through various parts and service channels and in the end, you decided to forsake all of their advice by doing your own thing. Fine. You're entitled to forge your own path, but they're entitled to their opinions about how they were rewarded for their time and their concern. Right now, it seems as if you're falling back into the same old method. Doing it your Own Way, ignoring advice and determined to Be Different.
Well Good Luck, but don't bring Mike into it. You've got a long way to go before that pile of shit manages to do half the things a plain jane white WRX has done with a few buddies and a modest budget.
