MR2 Renaissance - Give me your ideas!

So at the time I've elected to keep the MR2. Just like last year, I'm in a position where selling it means getting lowest dollar for it in its current condition, and building it means a lot of expense, time and effort. So I can give up and throw the towel in, or bite the bullet [again] and dive into it.
Hopefully I"ll be able to enjoy it in perfect running condition for more than 48 hours, as that seems to be the theme everytime I do major work to it.

My thoughts are to fix the damage [pics later] she sustained to her rear quarter panel from a guardrail hit, replace the door, front fender and rocker panel. Frame's straight.

My QUESTION is: What direction should I go? THe rear quarter needs serious work and filling. I'm considering attempting to flare fenders an inch or rivet on flares and run wide rear rubber, such as this:

Thoughts?

I still dont think you can get that much or that kind of flare with just a flaring too. That to me looks like someone cut them and molded on a new fender (looks sick tho). Post up a pic of a stock fender. When I was rolling/flaring mine, the quarter panel really didnt want to give much love.

Rivet on fenders are badass but I dont think you're going for no-holds-barred badassity on your fun street car?

yes, rivet on fenders!.... but don't go with tires as wide as that car. It looks like overkill and pretty silly (Unless it's putting out an insane amount of HP)

A good rivet fender job will cost just as much as good molded fender job. People do it because its dirty cheap to do it halfassed.

This cost the owner a LOT of money.

The dirty cheap jobs look like crap. The body lines of the rivetted fender dont match, water gets in and the body rusts out from inside causing the rivets to fall out, etc.

Indeed. I really wouldn't care if these flares were painted at all. In fact, I'd prefer they weren't. Easier to maintain. As for the body and rusting, it's easy to prevent that if it's done correctly, using a different kind of plastic pop rivet. I'd have to do more research on that fastener, but i'm pretty sure i've seen ways to do it.

my boss thinks I should use an epoxy. Lotus elise structural panels, anyone?

Celtic1982citleC is an unknown quantity at this point

Elise structural panels are no fun to maintain. Trust me. Every nick is a heartbrake.

BTW you looked awfully handsome in the Saturn this morning
