And I dunno what the differences are between the redline and non-redline (other than sc) are to say if it would be stupid to buy a redline knowing you will swap a turbo in it anyway. Maybe the suspension and a bunch of other stuff is different.

I'm getting the impression that this guy is saying that it is a redline, but without the s/c... which I don't understand... hopefully brew can comment.

if the s/c was removed just so the thing could be turboed then thats cool, but thats not the impression I'm getting. It just sounds like this guy is trying to pass his normal ion off as a redline.

if you take out the S/C to turbo it thats one thing.. people making the same power as a littly modded s/c redline run about 4 to 5 tenths faster due to being able to catch traction off the line and having more top end..

as for taking off the S/C and making N.A. it's stupid... a regular ion is 2.2, the upgraded ion with the redline body kit is a 2.4.. and the redline with the S/C is a 2.0.. so taking off the S/C leaves you with an N.A. 2.0l.. you would think they would do it to a 2.4 and get the extra torque out of it..

idk really what to say other then if i can get the vin i can verify if it's a real redline or not.. other then that i would have to say it's not...


the best way to tell tho would be to check the lugs.. redlines have 5 lugs... everything else has 4.. even the ones with the 2.4 N.A. motor only have a 4 lug.. so my guess would be check and if it's 4 ya got screwed




p.s. just thought about this but removing the s/c would mean he would have a custom plate made to cover the intake manifold since you would just be putting the throttle body right over that.. all and all i would say this car is prolly not a real RL but who knows
