Incase you don't know me, names Mark. I work at RIT, and for some gay reason, like neons. My green neon made just shy of 400 whp at new era's dyno on pump gas. I sold that, and bought a 2005 STi. I went 12.6 @ 108 in the subaru, but for how much I was paying, it just wasn't right for me. It was fast, but not super fast, and it was nice, but not really comfortable. I decided to build up another neon to be fast, and then buy a nice car in the spring for a daily driver. I still have my eyes set on an S2000, but we will see.

Yup, i'm sure. It has had quite a few new parts over the years. Its a stripped model, no power anything. I'm hoping to have her at 2200 lbs or less this spring.

OH yeah, only early neons came with non-MLS head gaskets and any motor I build I'm always going to put one in. I've never popped one, even with 22 psi on the big turbo. They hold up amazing. Stock head bolts are fine too, no one ever lifts heads on these things.

im well aware of the 420A motors capabilities. working in a dodge/chrysler/jeep facility for about 2 years and skip barber who is funded by dodge has schooled me often with their workings...

Just remember, the neon is NOT a 420a The block is the same (2.0), but it is not a 420a casting, and the head is not at all the same. I don't really mess with 2.0's though, the 2.4 is just such a torque monster compared to it. I was making almost 400 ft/lb on pump gas, where on a 2.0, I could string it out a little bit more, but I would make probably 75 ft/lb less.

Only the twin cams are the 420A, that came in the Neons with the buldge in the hood, right? I'm not too familiar with them but my ex's friend had one.

correct, the 2.4 with the longer stroke is definitely better for torque output. get at boxer6 on here for info on his old 2.4 builds
