Hate to say it, I'm with your girl on this one, I think sleeves make you look dirty. and not in that sexy mechanic way. unless you want to attract some biker chics, stay away from the sleeve thing...

depends on who does your ink, if i just want some stupid ass half sleeve and go to impulse tattoo (not saying they're bad, just throwing a name out) then yeh maybe it does look dirty cuz the person didn't put time into designing it and thinking about what they really want, they just want a tattoo, and a big one at that. When i go to tony ciavarro who is top 5 in the U.S. and top 10 artist in the world and get something meaningful to me, its beautiful, not trashy, i guess you gotta look at the quality of tattoo then make your decision. But if you base your opinion on someone based on how much ink they have, that makes you look dirty and hate to say it...shallow

I wasn't saying i based my opinion on the person on their quantity of ink ... I'm just saying from the sleeves i've seen, it makes your arm look dirty, litterally. maybe i havent seen any good ones, but from a distance, that amount of ink on an arm simply looks like you forgot to take a shower after a mud wrestling competition lol... no refection on the person with the sleeve at all, just a reflection of the sleeve itself.

ohhh i gotcha, took it the wrong way i guess but i think thats also what i'm saying because i've seen good ink, and i've seen horrible ink. I'd agree that some sleeves and 1/2 sleeves just look like shit because they don't take care of it, or the quality of the tattoo just isn't great, and spread that over a decent sized area of the body and it just looks like a huge mess. But if you check out that website i posted and look at some of the work tony has done i think you'll see that done the right way, a 1/2 sleeve can really be a piece of amazing artwork that people will be fascinated with whenever they see it.

<<< has a big set
I'm not sure why everyone gets all up on who's artist is nationally recognized and who's not. There are sooooo many great artists out there that either do not have recognition or "ranking" or do not care to. They still are excellent artists, and I think each person should be judged individually. There could be an artist who is nationally recognized, but they could be a complete asshole, and completely turn me off. Just something to think about.

i agree with you mike, i gotta say though after talking to tony ciavarro he is one of the most down to earth, genuine guys i have ever met. But i agree the artist / client relationship is very important because i might get good ink but if the artist is an asshole i'm going elsewhere for the next

I have no ink and I have no desire to, but if I were... I'd pick talent over personality.
I would never pick someone less skilled to do my tat just cuz he was a cooler guy.
