I think JaMarcus Russell is definitely the right guy for the Raiders. That guy has a cannon and the Raiders love to throw the ball deep, plus they have the receivers if they can actually get a QB to throw the ball to them. I really hope the Raiders don't take Quinn, I think he is overrated.

Are you serious? This guy is only even being talked about because of the game he had vs ND. And EVERY QB that played ND this season had a huge game as ND's secondary was as good as that of a girls pee-wee football team. I think Russell will be a huge NFL bust. Sure he has a good arm and size, but his football IQ is horrible and he would be more likely to read the Koran than an NFL defense. Didn't you see Aaron Brooks try to run that offense? Russell is essentially a younger version of Brooks. Brooks has a monster arm and great physical ability, but again is not NFL qb material. Look at how much better the Saints were without him losing them games. Oak. should look for someone who has actual QB experience in the free agent market. They need a veteran leader on that young offense. Kiffen, as a new head coach who was formally an offensive coordinator doesn't need to start his career with a struggling rookie QB. They should pick up a veteran like Jeff Garcia who knows the game of football and can lead that team and then look to the draft for future talent such as Brady Quinn. I don't like Quinn, but he is a smart quarterback with good physical tools and has great leadership ability. Being able to play behind someone like Garcia for a year would make a world of difference for a rook. in Oak. P.S. Kiffin, if you watched USC's offense, likes to throw a lot of quick routes and let the players do the work and then stretches the field later in the game once the secondary is creeping up to take away the underneath stuff. USC made a living in the second half of games like this under his watchful eye.

Anyway, back on topic...

...The Giants offense as inconsistent as it was last season has talent. The defense...doesn't. They're definitely in need of help on that side of hte ball and need to form some sort of identity.

Take a look at this:
Quote:
Quinn and the Irish played four ranked teams this year. They lost in the last three. Here are his stats in those games:

09/16 #11 Michigan L 47-21
24 for 48 for 234yds, 3tds, 3ints

11/25 at #3 USC L 44-24
22 for 45 for 274yds, 3tds, 0ints

01/03 vs #4 LSU L 41-14
15 for 35 for 148yds, 2tds, 2ints

Totals:
61 for 128 (47%) for 656yds (218ypg), 8tds and 5ints

Russell and the Tigers played five ranked teams this year and were 3-2 (winning their last 3 straight). Here are his stats in the last three:

11/04 at #8 Tennessee W 28-24
24 for 36 for 247yds, 3tds, 3ints

11/24 at #5 Arkansas W 31-26
14 for 22 for 210yds, 2tds, 0ints

01/03 vs #11 N Dame W 41-14
21 for 34 for 332yds, 2tds, 1int (and 1 rush TD)

Totals:
59 for 92 (64%) for 879yds (263ypg), 7tds and 4ints, 1rushtd

Another interesting stat to look at is sacks taken. Quinn took 31 sacks this season, while Russell had 15. Of course, the quality of their offensive line impacts this stat, but it also speaks to mobility and eluding the pass rush.
It looks like Russells numbers are better than Quinn's all around. (At least for their last 3 games versus ranked teams) Not to mention he has had a higher rating that Quinn his entire 3 years playing, although I guess you can't count his Freshman year really since he didn't play that much.

Sorry to go off topic a bit.

You can look at those stats but they are VERY misleading. For one, there are no common opponents. For 2, out of the teams listed ND played the teams with defenses ranked in the top 10 in the country. Tenn, Ark, and ND all had very weak defenses and relied on offense to win games. If Russell was in a game with a team like USC/Michigan/LSU which all have great team speed and strength on defense he would have had even worse numbers. Thriving in games against ranked teams with poor defenses is nothing to be proud of IMO. You need to look at their entire body of work. Which Quinn's career was MUCH more successful and he did much more with an offense that had drastically less talent then that of LSU's. The 2nd best player on ND's offense is now playing baseball for christs sake.

I am a bit skeptical of BJ just due to his immaturity. I prefer a more speedier back such as Tiki that can break away.

Giants NEED:

Another RB
OL
DB!!!
ML
WR

Not sure the order yet.

I just used those stats because they were all ranked teams so it was as close of a comparison as I could get. As I also mentioned, overall, for the entire season and the prior season Russell has a higher rating.

Eh, i used to try to pick who was going to be good in the pros coming out of college, its impossible, whoever the Raiders pick they are going to suck until they leave and go somewhere else, that team is a freakshow.

Brandon Jacobs has plenty of speed, hes big but hes really fast. I hope they start Jacobs, at least give the guy a chance. Giants have alot of needs this year, i think the top 2 needs they need are a whole new Db squad, and a WR, carter, tyree, moss, showed that they have no ability at all after toomer went down, They should get rid of all of them except for Tyree, i thinks hes the best wr out of all of them and he is really good on special teams
