Need to get to FL CHEAP!
So I have vacation coming up soon 4/15/07 - 4/23/07 and was invited to Florida, close to Orlando. I was wondering where's the best place to find cheap plane tickets? What airlines to use and stay away from? If I stay in Fl longer is the round trip more expensive, or is a shorter stay more? Plus I've never had to fly, things to bring and not bring on a plane, bag size for a carry-on. I know, "you're almost 27 and never flown?" No. Any help would be great. thanks.

when i was in the military, whenever i took leave and flew home i bought my tickets on orbitz.com and i tried to stay with us airways as much as possible...plus when u buy your ticket thru orbitz they send u text message on the day you leave keeping you updated on your flight if its delayed or what not.
Also try different airports in the area i found it a lil cheaper flying out of laguardia sometimes
as far as carry ons...less it better especially now it speeds things up at security a simple backpack is all i ever carried with me

+1 for flying out of metro airports. JFK/Laguardia/Newark are the best to fly direct to Orlando from our area. Search flights from those airports with Orbitz/Expedia/Travelocity/Southwest and see what you find. Stay away from Continental.

When you've flown from JFK or Laguardia did you drive down or take a train? just courious if it's cheaper to pay for parking at the airport, or have some one drop me off at the train station. Also can I bring a camera and or my laptop in my carry-on (back-pack).

I've driven down and just parked in long term parking. You can bring your laptop and/or camera on your carry on, yes.

i took a train one time and had a friend drop me off another...train is a lot easier plus when you get to nyc theres a free shuttle that takes you too the airport when you buy your train ticket you just show the shuttle and they take you

I found US out of Albany, didn't look to expensive plus my girlfriend can drop me off, so I don't have to pay for parking, or a train. Thinking I should just go with this flight. Any thoughts?

expedia is decent to use. I buy all of my tickets direct from Delta. What are the details of your flight? Let me see what I can get them for.

I thought about that, but shipping 225lbs can be quite expensive for overnight. Besides I've seen how boxes get handled during sortation. In a perfect world every box is gently picked up carried carefully to the truck by a man wearing white gloves but that's not the case. Sorry if this changes you're thought of the shipping industry, but that's why things are in boxes, that box is a coushin for the product.
