Pet Food Recalls

I am not sure if you heard of this but there's a nationwide pet food recall on over 95 brands. My dog was eating Nutro and it's an affected brand. We moved him to "Dick Van Pattons" brand which is not made by the effected manufacturer. Please check out www.howl911.com for more details.

Mod: Please sticky this.

I used to work at a pet store for six years, and I just looked up the ingredient list of the Dick Van Patton food. Looks like a really good food. No garbage fillers at all from what I can see. A major filler that some companies like to use is corn, ground corn, corn meal. Like with humans, corn is not digested very well and the dog/cat will have to eat much more of the food to get the nutrients he/she needs. You will notice that with a food without a corn product in it, you will have less mess to clean up in you're yard.

For those who are hearing this for the first time, your pet would already be dead.
Just adding some special cheer.

Thank you. That really makes me feel better. It's been bothering the hell out of me. I am glad I found something he likes. I got the "Chinese Take Out" flavor and it looked like REAL chicken. I was blown away. You could break it up and you could see it was real cuts of meat. That Alpo shit looks like something that came out of my ass.

This is no joke. There's a lot of shit coming out from the wood works. Nutro called and had them pull everything off the shelves not just the affected stuff. I spent the night googling to find a good substitute. I see major class action law suit.

It doesn't affect dry at all. Just the "chunks" of meat. I feed him Nutro dry food as well. He always has a bowl of that and has it when he wants. I feed him wet as a treat daily between 5-7:30PM.

Unhappy

My cat is pretty much on her deathbed right now

She maybe has a day left to go, hasnt eaten in over a week, just water, and we injected milk for her to drink (milk at least has some nutrients unlike water).

I'll be lucky if shes alive for another day.

It's quite f'd up really, they are thinking about going class action lawsuit on this matter, and a few people filled a private suits. The company promised some kinda reimbursement (I heard on CNN) in you can prove that the food was directly related to the death.

The cat is about 13 years old, with no medial problems in the past, and pretty much only eats the food "special kitty - gravy stile", lost a ton of weight over the past week, and barely has the strenth to move around.

Took her to the Vet's with (about last week before this thing got "huge") and the vet didnt even bother glancing at the article, and told us its her gums and she wont eat because they are "puffy". While we were there the vet got like 5 calls about the food. She got some medicine and 300$ later, it didnt help her nothing. We took her in again, and they told us her liver was failiing, and shes got some other shit.

Shes had a good run though, she was a street kitten in Russia back in 1994, that followed my dad when he was leaving work, followed him for a long while, all the way upto the subway, so he took her in, and then when we moved 7 years ago, we took her with us.

It was rat poison that made its way over from china in wheat gluten, which is used as a filler in the "wet" foods.

My cat, Skyy, had some wet food, but seems to be ok.

BTW, It's generally advised not to feed animals wet food at all. Stick to dry. None of our pets (4 cats and a dog) eat wet food of any kind. The only thing my cats have had as a treat was some real tuna.

Sorry to hear about your cat, Vlad. I know what its like to go through things like that.
