R.I.P. WJN (my dad) 3/16/56-3/28/07

Hey guys my father passed away this morning, I just wanted to share what happened with you guys, here the blog i posted on myspace.

After a 7 month fight with cancer my father passed away today, I am very sad but to be honest with you I think I am alot more mad than I am sad. I have a totally different view on the medical business and this country. When my father was diagnosed with cancer it was in a very late stage. They basically knew there was nothing they could do. But instead of letting him be and trying to let him enjoy the time that he had with us they basically tortured him with needless operations, gave him medication for problems he didnt even have, and made the last 7 months of his life as greuling and pain filled as possible. I wouldnt wish what he went through on anyone, It was unreal. I saw him 2 weeks ago and watched a Syracuse game with him and he was fine. He went in for this leg operation that we later found out wasnt even needed and he never woke up. He layed in a coma for 5 days and finally the suffering ended this morning.

This country is such a liberal ran, help the lazy people fuckin shithole. My dad worked his fuckin ass off his whole life so that he could have a nice house, a happy family, and provide his wife and kids with all the things they wanted and needed, never hurt anyone, never got arrested, basically kept to himself. Now he got sick and could not get any help from the governemt or anyone else. The reason the government or anyone else couldnt help him was because he was a homeowner. so a guy who worked his whole life to have his home, and was pretty damn successful would have to give up the home in which he worked his whole life for. Now you tell me does this sound right? You know its really hard to be optimistic when you know your days are limited, and you basically have to give up everything you have ever worked for. So instead of being able to get the treatments he needed and relax he was going to kemo treatments and still working 40 hours a week. It just drives me fucking nuts that the bottom feeding scum in this country can get all the help they want without even attempting to find a job or be nice citizens and my dad who is a part of the backbone of this country gets denied any help. Makes me want to throw up.

So what do I have left? Well I have my family of course. The best thing that I have left though are the memories. Me and my dad were sports nuts. I watched every Giants game with him from the first game of 1992 until there first round playoff loss this year. NFL and NCAA basketball were the 2 sports we watched alot. Just looking back, the things that I watched on the TV with him were amazing and I will never forget any of it. The Laettner shots, The Tyus edney game winner, Mike Miller hitting the winner for florida, Bryce Drew hiiting a huge game winner then diving on the floor, guys like Tim Duncan, Keith Van Horn, Joe Smith, Donyell Marshall, John Wallace dominating the college game. Then there was our Giants memories, whether they were good or bad they will stick in my head forever, Sundays with my dad were the best, my favorite day of the week, unfortunately I never got to see the Giants win a super Bowl with my dad but I did see alot of big wins and alot of good players with my dad. Guys like Rodney Hampton, Amani Toomer, Strahan, Shockey, Armstead, Sehorn, Sparks, Barber, and we always loved the underdog fan favorite guys like Chris Calloway, Kent Graham, Michael Brooks, and Gary Brown. The most memorable games I watched with my dad were there 1994 playoff win over the Vikings, Rodney Hampton had an awesome game, The big win the Giants had when they played the 13-0 Broncos and the Giants were like 5-8 and they won in the last minute on a deep pass from graham to toomer, the 1997 playoff loss to the vikings was a heart breaker. The Super Bowl run of 2000 was the peak of our NFl experience together, it was an amazing fun season, they just couldnt win the big game, 2002 the Giants blew a 38-14 lead and lost in the 1st round and broke our hearts, but having a broken heart is part of being a giants fan i guess. Of course me and my brother Scott will carry on the tradition of getting together and watching the games every week, but i can definitely say that Sundays will never be the same.

I miss ya already man

When I say 'I know what you're going through', it's because I've been there in your exact shoes. I was 15 years old when I lost my father under very similar circumstances, to cancer.

The only thing you take with you when you leave this world, are memories. You knew your dad long enough to have plenty of good ones together. In that respect, I'd say you've been blessed.
