Hard Shine

I saw this show on TLC over the weekend. It delt with building cars and what not, so it was pretty cool. I guess the shop owner is taking on some trainees and at the end he picks one to work with him. Well in this one episode he lets the trainees work on their own car, gives them $3000 and lets them do whatever they want.

well this one guy has a ion redline. He first states that the computer upgrade is about 100hp extra alone. I dont know shit about the car, but I don't believe it for a second. Then he proceeds to spend his money on stage 1, 2, and 3 upgrades. Installs them and is hoping for about 240whp... which is only 40hp over stock. What happened to the 100hp upgrade??? then dynos after the upgrade and only gets 160whp. Then he pops the hood and see oil squirted out from somewhere. HAHAHAH, I loved every second of it. The guy was a complete joke.

brew, have you heard about this? Any talk about this guy on the forums?

i heard about a guy having the car but never saw what he did

the stage 1 is new injectors and a reflash with a raised rev limiter to 7k should be good for about 30 hp

stage 2 is a new pully which should be good for about 15 to 20

stage 3 is not cover under warranty and is not for street use

it's a new computer with a few extra goodies
-you can set your revlimiter to whatever you want up to 8k by doing a special pedal sequence
-comes with an even smaller pully (2.8 if i remember correctly)
-comes with a a new reflash
-and the best part is it comes with extra pins in the new PCM for nitrous, it comes with built in algarythems (sp?) for a nitrous shot and you set at what rpm it comes on and turns off

the down side to the stage 3 is retards can buy it and not know that the top end only wants to spin to 7200 rpm before you start floating valves, plus the psitons in the car are only good to about 300~ whp and retards doing the nitrous shot normally do a 100 or 150 and when the stage 2 puts u at like 250~ range and and 100 shot on top of that plus a floating valve.. it's not hard to see how he fucked it up

umm... he didn't have nitrous setup on it at all. He did talk about the upgraded ecu and how it handles N02 though.

edit for clarification: he also went right to the dyno as soon as it was installed. No way he went out and beat on it and broke something before the dyno (well at least thats how the TV show made it look)

maybe so, but wouldn't he have made nice power right up until it went 7200+ and started to crap out?

If you have a DVR, you need to record every episode of this show and hope you catch it.
