going from 30-40 HR years to 73 is a HUGE jump...

As as soon as this roid talk started up, his numbers have slowly gone back down. Coincidence?... no!

So are you saying Sammy Sosa took steroids too since he had a couple monster years later in his career and is now dropping off? Maybe Sammy got scared of all the Bands accusations so he stopped the roids too.

Shawn, you can't necessarily compare any slugger to another, its not that easy.

Again, let me say, I am not saying he never took steroids or it may not have helped, but I do think people are blowing it way out of proportion.

bonds used to be an all around player... great fielder (multiple gold gloves), fast (30-40 SBs a year), and above average power (30-40 HRs a year). Now he has become the ultimate DH, bulky (so bulky that he has become slow), powerful, quick bat, but slow in the field and running the bases (50-70 HR a year). All these other players in question, sosa and Macguire, did not completely change like that.

Do you have proof his bat is quicker? Don't you think his age alone could be a HUGE factor in being slower, not just that he bulked up? All of those things that you typed up could all be simply because of age. Swinging a bat is not as hard as being agile at an older age. Comparing Sosa and Macguire like that is pointless, as they never stole many bases or were as good in the field so its kinda hard to have as drastic of a difference.

NTM his stolen base numbers started to drastically change well before the steroid accusations came into play, which to me would mean it is because of age.

Who naturally gets MUCH bigger when they hit 40???

I never said his bat is quicker cuz of roids, just that a quick bat is a good thing for a DH. He's never had a problem making contact with the ball, the roids def helped the ball travel a little further though.

There is a point comparing them since they didn't change as drastically as Bonds did (Sosa was/is an out fielder too). They pretty much stayed the same type of player (with gradual decline in ability... which is expected). Bonds went from one extreme to the other.... after 40!

How can you say the ball travels further because of the roids, but not know if his bat speed increased after steroids? That is the only thing that can affect how far the ball travels. Its not like the ball sees how big his muscles are and decides to get as far away from them as possible. Its all about bat speed and solid contact, which being bigger can obviously help, but isn't necessary. Still comparing Sosa and Macguire is not a good comparison because IMO Bonds was a much better player than either of them so he has a lot more to lose. So with age, his stats seriously declined, not to mention he wasn't always the healthiest player. He was hurt quite a bit.

What you are not understanding here is I have never said that he didn't take steroids, what I am merely saying here is that if he did in fact take steroids, they did not affect his baseball abilities as much as everyone is assuming.

You may want to take a look at Sosa's carrer stats, his stats have drastically changed over the past few years.
