When Tyson was in his prime...if you were managing a top heavyweight prospect....would you stick him in the ring with Iron Mike his first or second pro fight? Even someone like Evander Holyfield or Riddick Bowe? MMA has a shorter lifespan for fighters vs boxing due to the physical strain put on the body so the fighters don't get 15-20 pro fights before fighting contenders. IF they're lucky they get a handful before having to fight the top flight guys. The next guy Kimbo fights SHOULD be a "gate keeper"...someone that is maybe a bit younger than Tank and has good MMA experience but is not one of the top guys. Everyone wants to see him fight a top contender, but that just makes NO sense at all for his career. As long as he makes a small step up in competition in his next fight, I'll be satisfied. I don't expect to see him in the ring w/ someone that EliteXC backs like Ricco Rodrigeuz or Andre Silva for at least 2-3 more fights IF he continues his success.
Benny - too early in his career to say yes or no to your comment either way. Saying that is just ignorent at this point as you haven't seen if he is able to do more than stand up with someone. Also, remember, Chuck "Iceman" Liddell is one of the best ever in MMA and he did it with good takedown defense and great standup...let me know the last fight you saw him actually on the mat grappling/wrestling someone. So saying his overall game isn't good enough is unfair also, if you're GREAT at one thing you can win a lot of fights and be very successful. I.E. Iceman or Royce Gracie with his ground game...Gracie rarely if ever won a fight standing up, he was a submission specialist.
