right now i hunt with a ruger .338, and a winchester 7mm magnum, both with 3-14.5x50mm leupold scopes, but after i hit the lotto tonight, i'd love to get a .338 Lapua like this...muzzle brake and all

its kinda funny when people ask what i hunt with and i tell em a .338, and their response is."what the f* ya huntin!? buffalo?" nah...whitetail monster bucks, at 500yrds

yes it is...if your into guns for looks...if you into guns for accuracy and quality no.
That scope is absolutely pointless on that rifle, you will never be able to shoot as far as you can see with that scope accurately...barrel is way to short, that rifle was meant for close combat, I have a scope on my m-4 but was like 5x magnification nothing serious, and even that wasnt needed...iron sites FTW!!! Which leads me to the bi-pod...not needed, its by no means a sniper rifle so why have it? Again just for looks...its like making a show car but leaving the engine stock, whats the point, it looks great but doesn't perform...I rather have an ugly m16a4 service rifle that I can shoot accurately at 500yds with iron sites. Just my opinion...

lol. I don't think a fluted bull barrel is meant for close combat. Funny you can say it isn't accurate or quality and doesn't perform when you don't know anything about it. I can assure you that the internals are not stock and nothing in or on it is for looks.

yea I know it isnt meant for close combat, however the scope is still for looks, a fluted barrel is better for accuracy BUT NOT A LONG DISTANCE IT DOES NOT INCREASE RANGE hence no need for that scope...it was a analogy you don't need all those accessories...whats the point of having them? Unless your half blind and don't know how to use iron sites(which you should't be shooting any weapons) then the scope isnt needed on that rifle...and that also means the bi-pod is totally not necessary.

If you want to support a 15lb. rifle off hand when you're varmint hunting thats fine with me but I'll stick to a bipod.
The scope is a fixed 10 power and it suited to the rifle's range pretty well. The gun shoots sub MOA and can do better as I get better with practice. I don't know how you can tell how accurate your gun is with iron sights at 500 yards since the front post covers the entire target unless you're shooting one of those gigantic targets like they shoot at camp perry.
The gun was built for hunting woodchucks while still being a fun target gun off the bench. It's built from quality parts and shoots great.

ok well i guess that will work if you hunt woodchucks...i figured something like that would be just shooting at a range somewhere.
no the targets we shot a parris island for boot camp at 500yds were actually human size, and the front site post didnt cover the target all you had to was focus on the top of the post and put it at center mass of the target. But I guess I can understand that rifle for woodchucks...what kind of distance are you talking with that rifle?

p.s. you shoot woodchucks with that thing lol, I'm no rocket scientist but isnt that a little overkill, I figured a 22 could do the trick, although I'm not a hunter so I could be wrong there. All I know is military weapons. M16 w/M203, MGL's, M4, M9, 240's, 249's, 50cal (sniper/machine) MK19, Benelli M4, AK47's, AT-4's Javelin...I have fired all of those plenty of times and I miss those days.

a 55 or 69 grain bullet isn't bad for a woodchuck. A .22 would do the job fine but there's pretty much no way you can get close enough to shoot them with one. I'd say woodchuck shooting is usually at ~200-250 yards or so. Sometimes further sometimes closer. You really can't get closer than 100-150 yards or they take off down their hole.
