Who needs the gas? When I got mine done, I just did novocaine and thats it. I didn't feel any pain when they were doing it, but there was lots of pressure from the pulling. It sounded pretty nasty though because they break it and then pull it out.
Anyway, I got mine done on a Wednesday I believe and I took off Thursday and Friday from work and that worked out pretty decent. I had TONS of pain with mine, but the medicine helped a ton. (I hate taking pain meds, but there were nights I woke up in so much pain I had to take the medicine)
As others have mentioned, just be careful what you eat afterwards and do what the doctors tell you to do for care because you don't want to end up with dry socket. Its kinda tough to say how bad its gonna be because everyone is different. When my wife got hers done, she said it didn't really hurt that much at all afterwards.

I had mine pulled about 10 years ago. I got knocked out because I didnt want to see or hear the dentist pulling my teeth.
The pain wasnt terrible but the taste in my mouth was awful for a few days.
My brother is having his pulled on Friday.

w3rd, that part was awesome! until i spent the rest of the day puking my brains out from it. i only HAD to get the bottom 2 taken out, but had them all done just so i wouldn't have to go through the experience again. it takes a while to get used to eating without those teeth there too

Had mine done when I was 17 or 18. They knocked me out, which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Just take the pain meds when they say because that shit hurts even with the meds lol. I had it done on a friday, rested a few days, and then went to school on Monday. Took me about a week to eat anything and a full two to not have pain when chewing. It really isn't aweful. I got lucky and didn't have much swelling, but there was lots of blood for about two days.

Now we're talking. I wonder if I could request Percocet? I don't think Vicodin is gonna cut it.

Vicodin was perfectly fine for me, and I was in a lot of pain. (Normally I handle pain VERY well too)

So to follow up, the entire process was a walk in the park.
I would highly recommend the oral surgeon I went to (Dr. Busino, located in the medical offices behind Styvesant Plaza). He was very professional, explained the entire process, and did the best he could to calm me down since I was pretty nervous before the procedure.
I got laughing gas, IV anesthesia, and novocaine. I was prescribed Lortab (super duper Vicodin), and haven't even experienced ANY pain, just a mild discomfort. I have been taking the pain pills every 4 hours, as prescribed, so I've been in la-la-land for the past 48 hours. Good times, good times. No swelling or bruising, and not much bleeding. I have been able to eat ice cream, mashed potatoes, and jello with no problems at all. Just have to be cautious and not open my mouth too wide, or I can feel the tugging around the stitches.
So, yeah. Piece of cake!
