Fun with wisdom teeth
So lay it on me. Am I going to die of pain? Top two are fine, bottom two are impacted to the point where my dentist winces at my x-rays...thanks, Doc.
How many days should I take off of work? Having them done on Monday April 7 at 9AM. Hoping to be back to work that Thursday...unrealistic?
Let's hear your horror stories.

Whatever you do, DO mix alcohol with whatever pain medication the prescribe to you. It will increase its effectiveness ten fold.

I got mine pulled on a friday (my birthday in fact) and that was the WORST day, but it wasnt too bad. I went home and slept and took the meds & i was at the car lot that night.
Be prepared to look like a chipmunk tho! I did for almost 5 days.
You might wanna take off mon-wed? maybe all week depending on how much you can and if you wanna go to work with bloody "cotton balls" in your mouth

It isn't too bad. Just make sure they knock you out. You're gonna wake up and feel great, then realize there's more blood in your mouth than you've ever seen in your life. When you're home, just take it easy... Take the meds, use ice, and change the gauze a lot. The really weird feeling comes a week or so later when the dissolvable stitches dissolver and you feel these weird strings hanging from where your wisdom teeth were.

Better hope you don't get lucky like me and wake up to find out they found a 5th wisdom tooth that they also pulled.. I was out of work for a week and didn't eat for 2 weeks.. My face was swollen for at least a week. The only upside I had was the bleeding stopped almost immediately after the surgery. I took one drag of a cigarette two weeks later and ended up with dry sockets. I had to get medicated dressings put in the bottom 2 holes every other day for about a week and a half to stop the pain and infection.. but my circumstances were worse than most people so don't let me scare ya. haha

dont smoke anything or drink from a straw it could cause dry sockets. And thats really no fun. Its where the suction rips off the clotted blood over the incisions and exposes the bone making it incredibly painful.

Just had mine done less then a Month ago, still have giant holes in my mouth, it sucks and I wish they would heal, haha.
But seriously, it isnt as terrible as it sounds. I bled like a stuck pig for the first couple days which sucked, ruined some pillows and sheet I slept with because I drool,, ewwww
Pain for me was pretty crappy the first day, and I was fine untill the 6th day. I ran out of meds, and all the sudden it hurt liek a motha. They refilled my pain killers and I was fine, still have some vicoden laying around for a rainy day.
The gauze I thought were the worst part. A full day of changing out these nasty ass bloody nasty bloody gross gauze. you have to hold them in the areas to help heal. Sucks.
Good luck dude. By the 4th day, I decided to drink a beer, then 2, then I was hammered by the 3rd. Felt like a 50 lb girl, hahaha, good stuff.

here is my story first then advice...I had mine removed before I went to Iraq...didnt put me to sleep just used novacaine...all four pulled out which by the way is pretty disgusting to here them crack your teeth and watch them pull out the pieces...my roots were intertwined so the guy yanked on them pulling my head back and forth, however i didnt feel a thing and spent the rest of the day drooling on myself, my wisdoms were all the way in so they didnt need to make any incisions or give me stiches, now for the advice make sure you take your pain killers exactly when your supposed too...if your a little late on the timimg and the pain kicks in, your gunna hate life and second get one of those water piks to keep the holes left in your mouth clean, the last thing you want to end up with is dry socket, makes the pain last longer then the amount of medication they give you. Other then that its really no big deal! and you really only need to take 3 days off tops, you might still look like a chipmonk from the swelling but the pain dies off after 2 days generally.
