Yeah I love my Cherokee... Ive been itching for one since this style came out in 97... I bought this one for 9k in 2003 with 36k on the odo... now she has 75k on it and looks as new as the day i bought it. NEVER a mechanical failure, just lots of routine maintenance as all Jeeps require.
I sold my Wrangler (albeit I want another) but the Cherokee is here to stay permanently.
Oh, and they are dirt cheap now... ive seen 50k mile 2001's going for 5500 bucks !

yeah i was in the market for a wrangler, but was not excited about having no room at all. so i figured a cherokee is still a jeep, plus i can still get it with a 5spd(although hard to find). i agree though, has to be the newer style

My biggest issue with far away tracks is the lack of transportation for my car. Last time I was at the glen I burned up the set of brakes for the track (rotors and pads), my backup set, and then seized a caliper after the last run session. I am in the process of trying to set aside some dough so I can upgrade the brakes... the C5 corvette setup is an inch larger and directionally vaned without increasing my cost of replacements so I think thats the way I am gonna go. You wouldnt have wanted to see how bad the rotors were... the car needs to be on a diet
I am in the process of upgrading the cherokee for towing duty but Atlanta might be far for it... its only rated to tow 5k so I was thinking more like Mont Treblant, Pocono, NIH, Limerock, or the Glen...

I looked for a 5 spd for about 4 months before settling on the auto I have... it was a deal I couldnt pass up on a specially ordered lease return factory freak... Has the NP 242 case and full size spare (a 1g option back in the day) and electronics packages, but no cruise, tint, a tape deck, and at the time the steelies. Since then its gotten the alloys off a 04 wrangler (and 30" ATs with a 2" lift), cruise out of a junked XJ, driving lights from summit, painted bumpers and trim (a practice project for when I paint the Z/28) and some clarion tunes. Now its becoming my tow rig as indicated above.
FWIW, the Unlimited body style of the wrangler has a good amount of room, maybe as much as my cherokee with either rear seat folded.
And here are the previous rides... you can see why Mike called me Mustang

I hear ya, RA is too far to drive. I dont even go to VIR unless the car has a ride to and from. I should be able to make it to all those you mentioned at least once.
Early dates up here (north) so far are:
3/24-LRP-PDA
4/13-Pocono North-BMWCCA NY Chap
5/6-LRP-BMWCCA Patroon Chap (Local Albany area guys)
Dale, another local Camaro owner, should be coming as well. We'd love to see you there!
